To service or not to service? Mallory and Zede both agree that regular machine cleaning, including a light oiling (on parts where metal contacts metal) is absolutely something you as a  consumer should be doing. If you are feeling extra ambitious they even encourage cleaning the top part of the machine on the left side above the needle bar. This area is relatively easy to get to and most of the parts are mechanical making lint removal a breeze. They also discuss more risky cleanings/services and when a professional service may be needed.

Loved the podcast. I just got an Evolution and I am on the state part of the learning curve..
Do you have any tips for keeping the fabric on the guidelines when serging?
I got a guide for the cover stitch, but haven’t seen anything for the serging function.
